Matching Colours To Aura + Tone

When it comes to choosing the right hair colour, your skin tone is a major factor when figuring out which hue is right for you. Since your hair is right next to your face, picking the right shade is important to achieving that glowy look. What's also important when considering your next colour is your Aura ...

What Is Hair Colour Matching

Now please remember, there are no rules about which colours you absolutely must stick to and which colours you have to stay away from. After all, colouring hair is a form of expression and to show your personality so colour it whatever colour you please!

However, depending on your skin tone, some hair hues can highlight the warmth factor in your skin while others can make you look washed out. But don’t worry, with an endless array of colours out there, there is more than one perfect for you!

Colour Matching With Skin Tone

To start off, you’ll need to determine your skin tone. The best practice is to hold a white piece of paper to your face and look into a mirror. If you see a hue of yellow, blue-red or rose pink, you have a warm skin tone. If your skin appears grey, blueish-red, or yellow-green (olive), then you have a cool skin tone. If you land somewhere in the middle, your skin tone is neutral and fortunately, every hair colour works for you! The paler your skin tone, the lighter you can go. The darker your skin tone, the more pigment you’ll need in your hair colour to balance it out.

A warmer skin tone provides a nice contrast with a honey shade or something like balayage. A bit of darkness in the roots adds overall depth. A combination skin tone with yellow and pink undertones allows more freedom to play around with hair colours! If you have a cool skin tone with pink undertones I recommend a platinum shade of blonde.

What Is Aura & How Does it Relate?

Now let's talk about your aura and how you can factor this in when deciding on your next hair colour.

An aura is a layered energy field around a living being’s essence and helps to filter in information from our experiences. Sometimes there can be energy leaks, places of vulnerability and also information that can be picked up by other beings around us.

Like a mood ring, the colour of our energy can change depending on what we’re experiencing, likewise, by channelling the power of certain colours we can hope to invite change in the right direction into our lives.

How To See Your Current Aura

Start off by looking in the mirror for a minute in front of a white background, then concentrate on a focal point in the middle of your forehead. Without moving your eyes, scan the outer perimeter of your head and shoulders. The colour you see surrounding you is your aura!

Another way to find your aura is to stare at your hands for approximately one minute. The glow you see radiating from the outside lining of your hands is your aura. But please note that it may take a few tries to actually see anything — practice makes perfect! Once you have found and noted your aura, you can get started with discovering your next hair colour. Here is a breakdown of each aura colour and what they mean.
